Making an IU Olympian

Hit the pool with IU Swimming and Diving standouts Lilly King and Michael Hixon as they show us the science, support, and spirit it takes to win big at the Olympics. (All we have to say is: Look out, Tokyo 2020!)

It would be quite the understatement to say Indiana University had a strong showing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. If IU were an independent nation, we would have finished tied for 15th in total gold medals in Rio, and would rank 25th all-time in gold medals. Our 23 alumni and student-athlete Olympians dominated on land, in the water, and in the air, bringing home 11 medals across events in swimming, diving, tennis, and the high jump, making the summer games in Rio one for the record books.
